highchair time

i have spent the last 14 months since my son's birth avoiding getting a highchair.  i knew it wasn't in the budget to spend $200-$500 on a cool one, yet i desired something non-plastic and non-hideous looking.

my main avoidance was actually because there is something so unnatural to me about being strapped into a 5-point harness while just trying to enjoy a meal.  you know, the r.i.e. method (which we do take follow in this department) says to feed kids on your lap until they are able to feed themselves.  at which point, they should have their own little table to sit at.  the belief is that the child will be able to make his own decisions about how much he wants to eat....when he is finished, he can get up.   i digress....

anywhoo, i was procrastinating thinking i would have to dig up an old wooden highchair on craigslist or something.  fortunately, i came across a great wooden chair by svan called the anka highchair that retails for $179.

it comes in a few different non-toxic wood finish options, folds up, includes a washable cushion, has a wooden tray or plastic tray cover that is phthalate and bpa-free, is made of sustainable birch wood, is adjustable from 6 months to 5 years old, is table height, and has a 3 point belt harness.  perfect!!!

oh, and you don't have to move into a mid-century modern house to feel like your highchair fits into your home decor.
